What Causes Outbreak Of Hives All Over The Body Along With Abdominal Pain?

Hi, my granddaughter, 5 years old, suffered a very bad Uti last week and went to hospital on Friday. She was given antibiotics and a shot. She was ill for 4 days leading up to the diagnosis, but her only complaint was stomach pain, within 5 minutes of eating anything. She began complaining of stomach pain again yesterday, and was retested her urine is fine now. But she just broke out in hives from head to toe and is on her way back to the ER. Any thoughts?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of outbreak of hives all over the body along with abdominal pain , well hives are body's response to any external stimuli that irritates skin. The symptom you mention in query like coughing and itching is kind of medical emergency in case of hives. In your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to food allergy . I would suggest you to immediately consult dermatologist or doctor for proper evaluation of the condition and treatment. Doctor may perform skin test and patch test to find extent of infection. Doctor can give adrenaline injection.Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for gastric problem . For now take over the counter antihistamine drug like benadryl , give cold compresses to affected area several times and apply cream containing steroids .
