What Causes Pain And Bleeding In The Extraction Site Of Wisdom Teeth?
I just got all my wisdom teeth extracted today, however i wasnt aware of the risk of losing your blood clots from rinsing your mouth. Now all extraction sites are in pain and wont stop bleeding little amounts at a time. Have I already got a dry socket or a couple? Or am I overreacting :D?
As per your complain if you had your wisdom teeth extracted today only then pain in the extraction sites is not a normal finding and is not due to dry socket as it develops atleast after 5 to 6 days after extraction.. Slight bleeding is also normal for a day or two but excess bleeding should be evaluated by your dentist.. Secondly yes, it is true that you should not rinse for about 24 hours after extraction to prevent dislodgement of the blood clot.. I would suggest you to continue taking antibiotics and painkillers like Ibuprofen to relieve pain post extraction.. Do cool compresses over the cheek.. Take a soft diet.. You should also get a follow up done on third day and in a week with your dentist to get checked for the status of healing and if there is any problem seen it will be addressed accordingly...
Hope this helps..
Regards.
