What Causes Pain And Limited Mobility In Left Arm After Lifting Weights?

Hi. I lifted weights for the first time in a few months 2 days ago for about 3 hours to the point I could not do any more not smart . The next day I felt sore and I had limited mobility in my left arm. Today it was the same way but I noticed that my left pectoral muscle was swollen. It does feel tender to touch and I can mobilize my arm but I need to do it slowly and it is a little painful. Willthisheal on its own?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
hi,i,appreciate your concern.for lifting heavy loads, group of muscles around shoulder has to work hard and take the strains to themself.if the load is more,or muscles are not strong enough to bear the wt,there might be tearing in the muscle fibres either at origin or insertion.pectoral muscles are one of those muscles.it should heal by 3to 4 wks time, till avoid any heavy activity, and painkiller med.aswellasice fomentations after consulting your ortho expert.thanks.i will be happy to answer further quary.
