Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Foot After An Ankle Injury?
I had a cut near my ankle and had 7 stitches. The ER doctor said it cut close to the muscle. This was August 14th. I am still having swelling every day and in my foot as well. Sometimes it hurts to walk and my ankle and foot still ache and is painful. Is this normal 2 months later?
As you had 7 stitches near the ankle there will be skin and muscle shortening which may have taken place post the injury. Since now the cut would have healed I will advise doing hot water fermentation and some gentle kneading massage over the area. Post which a Stretching is performed so the tissue regains its normalcy. If it is not achieved there will be abnormal biomechanics of the ankle joint leading to pain and aches.
Try doing hot water fermentation, kneading massage and stretching exercises to improve the functionality of the tissues and regain normal biomechanics of the ankle joint to avoid pain and aches.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
