What Causes Pain And Tingling Sensation In Foot While Having SCD?
Hello, I have sickle cell and I have been having a strange pain in my foot and my leg has been tingling and going numb frequently the last couple days. When it isn t numb the pain is difficult to ignore and I ve never had this pain before. Is this an emergency I should go to the ER for?
Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic for your concern. All the symptoms you are suffering from are related to sickle cell disease.
When sickle shaped red blood cells get stuck in the small blood vessels and block the blood flow, you may feel painful episodes known as crisis. Some patients feel them once in a while, while others may feel it more often. Presence of swelling and numbness can also be related to crisis. If this a persistent problem for you, you may require hospitalization and treatment.
I hope this answer guides you through your trouble. Let me know if you need follow up answers.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
