What Causes Pain And Tingling Sensation In The Feet Despite A Normal MRI Report?

A little back story. 2yrs. ago had FX of T12. Surgery then rehab for 2 months. Upon discharge still learning to walk unaided. No pain/discomfort in feet. As the year/years progressed my feet became very painful/tingeling during the day with shoes on. At night they are extremely painful and upon movement the electricity starts. One other symptom; when walking it feels like I am walking on small pebbles. Barefoot is worse. Just recently had a Nerve Conduction test and a EMG. The Neurologist said I do not have neuropathy. The Neurosurgeon who did my surgery on viewing a very recent MRI said he did not see anything that could be causing pain. Where do I go from here?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you have discomfort & pain in the foot (while walking barefooted) & have pain & tingling feet when on foot & your MRI report & Nerve conduction tests show normal reports.

You are suggested to check on your shoes, wear a comfortable pair of footwear.

Your symptoms are indicative of developing nerve damage, Peripheral Neuropathy.

If you are diabetic, control on your blood sugar levels. Take food rich in vitamin B12, B6, folic acid, generals, calcium & protein.

Other medical conditions can be Peripheral artery disease(PAD), hypothyroidism, CRPS, Kidney disease & drug or heavy alcohol abuse.

Avoid addictions if any. Take adequate sleep & stay hydrated. You can soak your feet in Epsom salt for relief. You can take Acetaminophen for relieving, one sos when needed.

You are suggested to go for a follow up physical examination by a GP or a neurologist. You can take the help of a Physiotherapist. You may need electric nerve stimulation, laser or magnetic therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
