What Causes Pain And Tingling Sensation In The Thumb?

hi, i am a 45 year old women, I work out and I do hot yoga. Lately I feel a tingling and hot pain in my left thumb, in my right palm near my thumb and in my balls of my feet but only when I do certain poses. I do not have any diabetes issues and had a blood test a few months ago and every thing was fine but i need more calcium. What could this be? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The numbness in your thumb is very likely due to a nerve being pinched, most commonly due to carpal tunnel syndrome.
You will need to avoid activities that aggravate the symptoms. In some cases, a splint is needed if there is not enough improvement. Rarely, local injections with a steroid or surgery are required.

I hope I have answered your query and have been helpful to you.

I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
