What Causes Pain Behind The Eye?

I have had about 5 sessions in the last 2 weeks, that start with a dull headache that turns in to sharp pain behind and above the left eye. It is piercing followed by nausea, and light headedness. They last from an hour to 6 hours. I am not sensitive to light or I would say that it was a migraine. Any thoughts?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having recurrent episides of pain behind the eyes associated with light headedness, nausea and sensitivity to light.
These episodes are typically seen in migraine and treatment is by use of anti migraine drugs. If this is not responding to the anti migraine drugs need to rule out angle closure glaucoma more so if the attacks of eye pain and headache are seen in dim illumination as after watching movie in a theatre.

Thank you
