What Causes Pain Below The Sternum On The Left Side?

I was practicing judo when I had a bad pain on my left side, about 2 1/2 below my sternum. I now have a sore spot about the size of a silver dollar. If I get in certain positions or lift something to heavy it seems like a rib jumps up over another one. I stretch out and it lets the lump go down and the pain subside considerably. Why does this happen? What can I do to correct this problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you have a stretched muscle or overuse of mussels or even trauma considering that you were doing judo. I think rest can help, also the usage of anti-inflammatory drugs such as Advil or Naproxen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
