What Causes Pain During Intercourse And Bowel Movement?
Hi there I am a 19 year old female. I have been experiencing a burning pain during intercourse for over a month now. My partner does not have any pain. I went to my doctor and was tested for STIs - they all came back negative. I then got a UTI which i was treated for with Trimethoprim. The pain during intercourse is still present. I also have pain during bowel movements with a little bit of blood. I am unsure whether they are related but have never experienced anything like this before. Do you have any idea what could be causing the pain
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. This is called dyspareunia meaning painful sex. The causes can be as follows: PID meaning pelvic inflammatory disease. Some psychological problems can enhance this. Any inflammatory pathology of the small intestine or large bowel can also cause this. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Gynecologist for internal examination, internal ultrasonography. Ct scan of the abdomen to see for the cause of painful bowel movement. Colonoscopy and biopsy as needed. Tests of blood, urine and stool. All these will give and idea about the possible cause and thus help to have a proper plan of management. Use condom during intercourse. Avoid intercourse till a proper diagnosis and proper management.
