What Causes Pain In Arms With Family History Of Myotonic Dystrophy?

I have typed or done computer work for the past 30 years for a living and play a musical instrument and swim to relax. I have noticed lately that for years and years I clench my arms. Recently I started swimming and my arms hurt due to exercise. Not really sure what else to say 2 my sisters have myatonic dystrophy and my mom has thyroid problems but I am not sure why I can t relax my arms. They are sore from clenching them - or possibly from swimming. Dumb right - delete or never mind? YYYY@YYYY

Hello,

In my opinion, given the fat that you have family history of myotonic dystrophy in order to be sure that everything is good, I suggest you to be seen by your doctor. If he or she says that there is no problem than no worries about. Just try to have a rest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
