What Causes Pain In Cheek Of A Child Post Tonsillectomy And Adenoidectomy?
My 3 yr old daughterhad a tonsillectomy and adnoidectomy 1 week ago today. Today she started complaing that her left cheek hurts, pretty much in the middle of the cheek. this is impeding her eating and drinking eve n more. Since the surgery she has been on acetaminophen every 4 hours and morphine from time to time for breakthrough pain. Should I be concerned about an infection or something starting or is this new cheek pain relatively normal? Thank you.
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query. The pain in the cheek can be because of the trauma to cheek caused during surgical procedure. The other possible cause can be a aphthous ulcer, usually occurs following surgical procedure. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. Mean while you can take topical anesthetic like lignocaine and topical analgesic like choline salicylate. Do saline gargling. I hope i have answered your query. Take care.
