What Causes Pain In Esophagus And Shoulder After Sitting For Long Time?
I have a esophagus and shoulder pain after sitting down for a while or bending down. I have to stretch my neck backward, hit my chest, and attempt to burp so that I can release the pressure. After a few minutes of relax the pain goes away. What could have caused it?
There are a couple of possibilities here: 1. You might be experiencing Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) also known as heartburn. This can cause discomfort in the chest as you have described as well as belching, burping or indigestion. The best way to treat this is to eat smaller meals; stay away from certain foods that may trigger the problem most commonly coffee or alcohol but also very spicy or acidic foods. 2. Gallstones sometimes cause similar symptoms especially with radiation of pain to the shoulder. 3. You might be experiencing just musculoskeletal pain, which can result from tight muscles in your chest and shoulder girdle; or from poor posture / not proper spine alignment. Doing physical therapy (therapeutic exercise) is usually helpful for that. Feel better and good luck! Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
