What Causes Pain In Foot After Stepping On Something While Walking?

I was walking outside with just socks on a few weeks ago when I stepped on something and felt a sharp pain. I looked at the sole of my foot and didn t see anything. Now, I have pain on my foot just below my fourth toe, it s a shooting pain and it feels tight. But, I still can t see anything. Do you think something is stuck in there or it s just healing still?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of local inflammation. I recommend taking ibuprofen for the pain and using local cold packs. It could be a traumatic injury. If your situation does not improve, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and a foot X-ray study.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
