Hello,
Pain in left arm may be because of causes:
1) Shoulder causes like frozen shoulder, deltoid injury
2) Cervical spondylitis
3) Cervical radiculopathy
4) Cervical disc prolapse
5)
Rotator cuff injury.
6)
Brachial plexus inflammation
Tests necessary to arrive at a specific diagnosis are X-ray of cervical spine, and MRI cervical spine. Treatment options for cervical spondylitis are NSAIDs like Ibuprofen and Aceclofenac for pain relief to be taken twice daily for 1 week. To prevent gastric irritation, tab. Pantop 40 mg once daily before food is recommended.
Cervical collar to reduce weight bearing of head on cervical spine.
Physical therapy that may include neck traction and other neck strengthening exercises help in reducing the pain. If the pain is very severe, oral
corticosteroids can be started. Please do consult an orthopedic surgeon for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment with prescription medications.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
