Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In Neck While Suffering From Osteoarthritis And Spinal Stenosis?
I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis (all joints --knees,hips,thumb joints replaced) spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease. Lately I ve had severe pain in neck accompanied by a grinding noise when I try to turn head. Can arthritis travel to the neck?
The degenerative joint disorders are known widely to involve cervical spine after the lumbar region of back. There can be various symptoms from cervical spondylosis such as: - Chronic neck or nape pain - Radiating pain to upper limb, fingers of one of the upper limb - Numbness or tingling involving fingers - Sensation disturbances over parts of forearm or upper arm
However, an X-ray of the cervical spine with or without an MRI is of vital importance in the diagnostic protocol.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
