What Causes Pain In Right Abdomen And Traces Of Blood In Urine?

my husband has an unexplained pain on the right side of his abdomen above the hip bone. He just had hernia surgery 2 weeks ago and we thought that was the cause of the pain but apparently not. He claims that a few sips of beer really helps with the pain. He also had traces of blood in his urine and will be having a CT scan tomorrow. Any thoughts?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it is due to renal or ureteric stones which are causing minor mucosal abrasions and lead to symptoms. A CT scan can provide a better clinical picture. If there is stone better to consult a urologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
