What Causes Pain In Right Side Abdomen After Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy?

I had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy two weeks ago after going to the emergency room with extreme abdominal pain. My gallbladder was full of stones, infected and inflamed. The doctor said he had to make the main incision twice as large as normal and also had to, if I remember correctly, "flush out my chest cavity". My recovery was very rapid but after about five or six days I've noticed the minor pain in my right side when taking deep breaths, burping or yawning (which I seem to be doing very frequently) hasn't improved in a week. Also the pain in my right shoulder which had nearly disappeared has returned and becomes much more intense if I try to sleep on my right side. Is this normal? I have no other PCS symptoms.

Hi.
thank you for posting query.

post cholecystectomy pain maybe due to stones in common bile duct OR increased fat intake OR functional pain.
need further evaluation.

advice:
- get an ultrasound (abdomen) to rule out any stone remnants in common bile duct
- also get a complete blood cell count(CBC) test
- avoid OILY food altogether
- you may need to take nexium/pantocid 40mg once daily before breakfast for few weeks
- avoid eating stomach full and mouth full
- avoid spicy food

wish you good health.
further queries are welcomed.

wish you good health.
regards,
Dr Tayyab Malik
