Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, so for the past year + now I ve been getting this sensation in my right arm like a dead arm . I use that term to reference my days when I played baseball and was a pitcher... it hurt to raise my arm and even throw the ball. That s how I m feeling now... when I raise my arm to shoulder level or higher it hurts... and when I massage the area where I feel the pain it hurts to the touch... almost like a muscular problem. I don t get numbness or anything but it s a mystery as to why this is happening... especially since I haven t played baseball in years and even thrown anything in the past few months. Last year around this time I did go for an MRI and it revealed nothing... so at a loss at what could be the problem?
I suspect 3 main conditions which could cause this kind of pain. They are rorator-cuff injury, shoulder tendinitis and bursitis. Since you were using your arm a lot, it could have caused this condition. I would advise you to give rest to you shoulder joint and get MRI repeated to get the confirmation of the condition. In the meantime, you can take any pain killers like Combiflam for pain and discomfort.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
