Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a pain in the center of my chest, mostly to the left but sometimes to the right, especially when I lie down. I went to emergency room and had stress test and ekg and they were negative, nothing wrong in heart or lungs, but it is still persistent. Not bad enough to take a pain pill all the time, but I know its there. Sometimes I take a pain pill and an anti acid and that relieves it, but it comes back. Im getting worried
The location and movement of a pain gives clues as to what is going on. One of the easier and more effective tests is just to poke around to see what hurts. Often it is the area where the ribs connect to the sternum and these joints get inflamed.
This is not generally a reason for an opiate. And it is especially well treated with an aspirin like drug.
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
