What Causes Pain In The Diaphram After Having Spicy Food?

I i had slight pain in the abdomen and initially from and x-rays it was diagnosed as necrotising enteritis. I was put on 1 week complete owel rest and was on antibiotics (metrogyl) and some proton pump inhibitors (omaze i think). the symptoms subsided and after discharge in a few weeks time the symptoms came back.. again i was on drugs and an ultrasound ruled out necrotising enteritis. I then had an endoscopic examination and the gastro enterologist said everything was ok and I had a minor hiatus hernia. he prescribed nomaxin tab and rabium 20. I had it for 4 months plus and the sympptoms subsided. Now after 2 yrs of the same occassionally mild pain in the diaphram area still comes when i have some spicy food or so..whats the solution, can i continue with the normaxin tab / rabium 20 as a course for a week or so...??

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of slight pain in the abdomen, diagnosed as necrotising enteritis, put on one week of complete bowel rest, Metronidazole, PPI. Symptoms came back after a few weeks, put on medications again, minor hiatus hernia on endoscopy, prescribed Nomaxin and Rabium 20 and symptoms subsided for 2 years after these were taken for 4 months. Now symptoms of mild pain in the diaphragm area, particularly after spicy food.
The symptoms of pain in the diaphragmatic area which is occurring after spicy food is most suggestive of gastritis or gasric ulcer.
Hence I would advise you the following:
To take a PPI like Omeprazole.
Antacid every three hours, particularly on empty stomach.
Avoid oily, spicy foods.
Control of stress and/or anxiety is very important as these are one of the basic reasons for such symptoms.
Soft bland diet and small frequent feeds.
Continue the treatment for 6 weeks and an upper GI Endoscopy if the treatment fails to help you reduce the symptoms.
