What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen And Diarrhea After A Colonoscopy?

I had a colonoscopy almost 2 weeks ago with removal of polyps, then 4 days later an endoscopy. I ve had severe cramping from just under ribs to lower abdomen with side back pain and watery diarrhea for several days and seeming to get worse. What could this be?

Hi,

It can happen after colonoscopy. It is due to the stimulatory effect after the scopy. Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself in a couple of days.

As of now, analgesics like Mefenamic Acid or Tramadol can be taken for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
