Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Been experiencing pain in the lower right side of the neck and right shoulder for about month now. There s also pain down my arm and into the back of the hand when I move my neck and look upwards. I ve been to an urgent care, seen my pcp and several visits to a chiropractor. They all say it s a deep deep knot in the shoulder area, and that the pain down the arm is probably a pinched nerve due to the knot. My doctor prescribed a muscle relaxer and moist heat. It seemed to be getting better for a few day, however, in the last 5 days the nerve pain has worsened and has become increasingly difficult to sleep or keep my arm still. Should I be concerned that it s been a month and it seems to be getting worse? Would you recommend getting an MRI or anything like that? Thanks in advance! Marty
This is most likely due to cervical pain, due to compression of nerves between spine. You should get an X-ray cervical spine AP/Lat view and further you may need an MRI if X-rays are not informative. You need to visit physiotherapist after getting the X-ray results and also a consult an orthopedician. Till that time he can have a tab. Neurobion Forte, which is a nerve vitamin. If this is not helping you need to tab. Pregabalin, which is a nerve stabilizer.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
