Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My neck and shoulder (right side) has been bothering me for at least the last three days. I ve tried heat and a topical cream for arthritic pain. I ve taken Advil and Flexeril. It has subsided a little, but it is still there. I cannot fully turn my head to the right without pain. What could be causing the pain?
Hi, Neck pain can arise due to many etiology commonly like cervical spondylosis, sprains & strains, tension headache, osteoporosis, trauma, myalgia etc. Looking at your history its difficult to predict the exact cause by the very little history provided, but it is advisable to consult a orthopaedics specialist for further reference. As of now you need to immobilize your neck , use a cervical collar, and can apply diclofenac gel and hot water bags locally.Avoid taking Advil and Flexeril as it is having adverse effect over a long run. You also need to take a X ray Cervical spine AP/Lateral view. Please revert back in any further queries. Best Regards Dr.Shovan
