Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have pain that began on the right side of my neck several years ago. Over time it spread along the top of my right shoulder, then into the shoulder. It continued on down the arm. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis of the c5 and c6 vertebrae. The surgeon I went to said it wasn t bad and had me try injections (no relief), chiropractor (no relief) and physical therapy (also no relief). In the meantime the pain had spread to the left side from my neck down into the upper arm. At this point he said okay to surgery. I had the fusion surgery March 1. I had a few days relief before the pain returned. It get more severe daily and seems to be spreading. I m now having pain that goes from my right hip down into the foot. Pain in the left hip started today. The surgeon sent me back to physical therapy and said if there was no improvement that we would need to do a CTscan. When I called his office to let him know the therapy didn t do anything, his Medical assistant told me that he was referring me to a pain management clinic. I don t want to manage my pain, I want to find the cause and treat it. Any suggestions?
I would like to tell you that your cause of pain is vertebral stenosis and there is a pain even after physiotherapy and injectibles then you need to go for pain management.
If you don’t want to go for pain management then you can ash your treating orthopedist on for further treatment options available.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhanu Partap,
Cardiologist
