Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Shoulder And Numbness In The Finger?
A couple weeks ago I was moving 50 pound bags and while doing so I felt a pop in my left shoulder at the joint. Ever since then, when I lay down or when I m setting, my shoulder feels like someone is pushing down on my shoulder causing moderate pain, about 7 on the pain scale. it also is causing my left thumb area and first finger to feel numb
In my opinion, you could have injured your shoulder joint, which needs immediate attention. therefore kindly visit an orthopaedician who shall do a certain clinical examination and also take an X-ray radiograph to check for any problems at the shoulder joint.
The numbness in the finger and pain could occur due to compression or irritation of a nerve supplying the shoulder joint which is connected to the finger which can be treated initially with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Aceclofenac 100mg once a day or its analogs like Diclofenac can help.
However, since an injury is possible it is best to visit an orthopaedician for further intervention.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Riyanka Chail, General & Family Physician
