Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Thighs And Buttocks After Double Hip Replacement?
I have both hips replaced in the couple years. This past Subday I have double hip replacement done a couple years ago. Sunday I did work outside that involved work on my knees and bending. I cut my hand as I have done before, very minor. Continued to work and finish the job. I must take antibiotic meds before a dental procedure. How does other abrasions or injuries enter into this. My butt and thigh muscles or so sore the past two days I can barely walk. Question ! overwork or infection causing my pain?
I understand your concern. Antibiotics may be needed for the procedure in the oral cavity to avoid infection of the heart (infective endocarditis).
However, this is not needed for minor cuts in outer parts of the body until the wound itself is dirty or infected. The pain is likely to be because of overuse. It does not look to be an infection, as the infection is unlikely to be both sides, and would cause high-grade fever, swelling and redness.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
