Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have chest pains that come and go that s in the upper chest with pains in my upper back. It also hurts sometimes when I move. I have had abnormal EKG s but my stress test and other heart tests came back normal. Could I be having some heart problems.
Thanks for your question. I am Dr Asanghanwa Carlson. Chest and back pains have many origins. These could include parietal pains which are pains arising from the chest cavity (muscles, ribs and vertebrae), pains arising from numerous organs contained in the chest and referred pains which are pains referred to the chest by organs located out of the chest like the stomach. The true origin of the pains can be determined after careful examination by a physician. A normal EKG does not completely rule out a cardiac origin. I however would advise you still consult your physician or another physician so he/she evaluates your pain and prescribes the right management. Good luck
