There are two aspects to your answer.
first, you said your sugars are high. Now how much do you mean by that. There is a condition called diabetic
ketoacidosis which happens in uncontrolled diabetics who may develop
abdominal pain. usually this is triggered by infections,and patients usually have loosemotions.
So check your sugars urgently with urine ketones.
Alternatively there may have been an infection going on, which is again more prevalent in uncontrolled diabetics. The pus may have formed in the operative site and when this touches the respiratory muscle, diaphragm, the pain occurs which increases on breathing.
