What Causes Pain That Starts From The Neck To The Left Arm?

I have pain in my left shoulder that shoots down my arm. I also have pain in the lower part of my neck. I believe it is all related some way. I have not been able to lay on my left side for about three years now. It is hurting my arm and shoulder just typing this short message. Any ideas on what it could be and what could be done to help the pain. It has been going on for a while now. Well Thank you anyway. I will deal with my pain. I been dealing with it for over 5 years now.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain that starts from the neck to the left arm. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to certain reasons like cervical spondylosis , radiculopathy , tendinitis , brusitis or shoulder joint problem . I would suggest you to apply warm compresses to shoulder , avoid lying on left side and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan along with MRI and physical examination . Doctor may prescribe orthodox MR , anti inflammatory , vitamin supplement for quick recovery . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy or surgery in severe case .
