Hi, thank you for that opportunity. I am 44 years old. have started having very bad menstruation, with very strong pain on my second day accompanied by very heavy bleeding. I take nurofen period pain in order to survive that second day. (Sth I can not even go to work) My GP has also prescribed Tranexamic acid 500mg, when the bleeding is severe. 1. Can I take both medicine together. 2. Is there anything else than nurofen period pain that I could take for that very strong pain. I do get some very strong and unbearable head ache after the nurofen. I end up womiting, diarrhoea from all the pain. I had few tests with NHS and private specialists. I have several fibroms. I also have severe anaemia and constantly take iron tablets prescribed by my GP. One doctor suggested to remove the womb and leave ovaries. Another offered emboalisation of the fibroid that might be causing the symptoms. My GP insists I go for Mirena.
As a first line management you can take mefenemic acid-tranexa combination for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated.
