Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i recently had an 8 bruise come up on my arm that followed the vein. ultrasound said no blood clot but md put me on bloodthinner for a week. all was well for about a week and now I am having pain in the same area and 3 bruises have appeared under my arm coming up to the inner part of my upper arm. it hurts to extend my arm . any ideas ?
From the history provided , it appears that you could be having thrombophlebitis, which is inflammation of vein. It is important to find the reason for the same especially if the episodes are recurring.
Any history of trauma to the affected area? Do you have family history of joint pains, SLE, a blood clotting disorder ?
I recommend investigations to rule out cause of these bruises . It could be a simple thrombophlebitis, a hormone issue or a rheumatologic cause like SLE.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Binu Parameswaran Pillai
