Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have multiple lipomas along my rib cage. Recently the one under my ribcage is very painful, to the point where it is disrupting my sleep. When I get them examined, the doctor usually just goes ah ha,...just a lipoma, don t worry about it, they don t hurt. This one does and the other ones at various times will ache.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful lipomas along the ribcage. Well A lipoma is a slow growing, fatty lump that's most often situated between your skin and the underlying muscle layer. Treatment generally isn't necessary, but if the lipoma bothers you, is painful or is growing, you may want to have it removed. I would ssuggest you to consult general surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order biopsy , ultrasound or physical examination . Doctor may recommend surgical removal , treatment to shrinks the lipoma or liposuction. For now apply warm compresses gently and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
