What Causes Painful Swelling On Lymph Node By Right Ear?

I not sick, but I have a painful swollen lymph node by my right ear. It has come and gone over the last couple years. I noticed it again after working out with my loud iPod. I also have seasonal allergies...might these be the cause to my swollen lymph node?

Enlarged lymph nodes are common after bacterial infections,upper respiratory tract infections.Causes of enlarged lymph nodes below ear can be due to infections in ear,tonsils,scalp infections,pimples in face even dental caries etc.Usage of headphones can lead to inflammation of skin of external ear and thus can lead to lhmph node enlargement.Allergies as such dont cause lymph node enlargement.If this enlargement persists then needle aspiration for diagnosis should be performed.
