Hip joint is very sensitive joint and needs close monitoring especially when there is pain. There are few questions you need to answer,

- Any injury
- Any operation
- Your family history
- This can be hip joint arthritis due to osteoporosis or osteoartrhitis, depending on the age and gender

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
