Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Painless Bruise On Lower Back And Legs During Pregnancy?
I am 28 weeks pregnant and woke up to a smaller black and blue bruise on my lower back and a large area of black and blue spotting on my leg. I have not hit these areas and am wondering what could be the causes for these bruises. They are not painful at all. Thank you!
Just relax and do not worry at all. There is a chance you may have developed gestational thrombocytopenia, which means a low platelet count caused simply during pregnancy. Platelets help blood to clot, and clotting is important both during labor and in surgery, such as a cesarian-section. Your platelets will be checked throughout your pregnancy, anyhow, but it is worth bringing the attention to your regular doctor about this condition and just to be extra-cautious. All the best.
