What Causes Pale, Smelly Stools In Patient With Coeliac Disease And Lactose Intolerance?
Hi, i have coeliac disease for past 5 years. Newly diagnosed lactase intolerant. I follow the correct diet.My stools are now pale for last 10 days and smelly.Today my stool was a more normal colour. should i see my gastroenterologist ? Have appt next week on Wednesday or should i go sooner?
Gluten intolerance is the inability to break down gluten. The immune response to gluten destroys the villi with the toxins produced resulting in malabsorption, maldigestion, foul-smelling stool & complicates to malnutrition.
Lactose intolerance occurs due to bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine. Some may have congenital lactose intolerance. Stay in contact with your gastroenterologist & get treated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
