What Causes Paleness And Tingling Sensation In Fingers Upon Holding Cold Objects?

My fingers often turn white and feel tingly, usually handling cold things like produce at the grocery store or drinking an iced drink. It is more common in the winter and usually only in the fingers of one hand. I suspect Raynaud s as my sister had that and a brother has similar symptoms. It takes a long while for the fingers to get circulation back in them and to return to normal color. What can I do to relieve these symptoms?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Raynaud disease is a vascular disorder and affects the blood vessels of fingers and toes most commonly.
It is characterized by change in color of fingers from white to blue to red.
There is reduction in blood supply to fingers and toes due to spam of blood vessels.
Initially the color is white due to low blood supply, slowly it turns blue and when the area is warmed, it turns red due to accumulation of blood.
The sensation of pain, tingling, throbbing are experienced as the color changes.
A family history of Raynaud disease increases the possibility of Raynaud in other family members.
The treatment of raynaud disease depends on the severity of disease.
Initially wearing warm clothing and gloves will help to alleviate the symptoms.
More severe cases require medication which again depends on severity and tolerance of the patient.
I suggest you to consult your physician for clinical assessment and thus prescription of most suitable drug for your symptoms.

Thanks and take care
