Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 34 year old male and I play a lot of sports and stay in real good shape, I was dignosed with acid reflux disease a few months ago. I have noticed for the last few weeks that while trying to sleep my heart will beat hard and faster like when you have a bad dream, it happens a couple times a week and only lasts a few minutes. While I am awake it never seems to bother me. I have been checking my blood pressure and it has been running lower than normal 125/60s or lower 70s. It normally runs a little high
You need to get an ECG done at the time of palpitation. But as these palpitation episodes last for few minutes during which doing ECG is not possible, so we ask our patients to put a 24 hour ECG monitoring called a Holter monitor. You should also do that.
I'll advise you to also get a 2D Echo done to rule out any possible cardiac abnormality. Further treatment will depend on the report of these test results.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sameer Maheshwari,
Cardiologist

What Causes Palpitation With Lower BP Level?
