Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife is struggling from pericardial effusion still now 900 ml fluid was drained from here heart now there is no more fluid in heart which was confirmed by echography the removed fluids are given for testing now four days finished up to now the reports are normal still some reports are pending also there is continuous fever very hard to breathe before draining the fluid please tell me what is the cause of fluid
The major cause for pericardial effusion is Viral, Bacterial and Tuberculosis. Since she is having a fever we have to rule out infectious causes. Or inflammatory disorders, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. What is her age, any renal problem? Renal failure also causes effusion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. C.ELANCHEZHIAN, General & Family Physician
