What Causes Persistent Back Pain For Weeks?

My 15 year old son has has persistent back pain for over 2 weeks now and it's not improving, he says the pain feels like it's in his spine, the docs just said muscle strain but there's no improvement after 3 days of rest, he said the pain is changing from a dull ache to a sharp pain...please help!!

I had gone through the case and it might be slip disc or herniation of disc.

So go for MRI of spine and then go for physiotherapy and treatment.
