What Causes Persistent Back Pain?

Hello my name is Carolyn and I am 49 yrs young, for several yrs I have had extreme lower back pain that never goes away and now in the past 2 yrs the pain has gone down thru my left leg and foot. The intensity of the pain has worsen over time to point of loosing mobility with my body. The radiates in my calf, behind my knee and upper thigh and groin area it is like someone has put vice grips in those areas and have screwed them so tight that from the pressure leg would explode and the pain is beyond words of explanation. At first when I noticed this I use to feel tingling, numbness and hot electrical rushes from my lower back to my foot and now this pain never goes away. I have been able to sit, stand, walk or lay down for more than a few mins at a time let alone sleep more than 10 mins at intervals because I have to adjust my body to ease the pain so that I can cope. My doctor says it's all in my head. If not please email me YYYY@YYYY
