What Causes Persistent Bad Cough, Fever And Sore Throat?

Hello, i have had a bad cough for the past 2 weeks, last thursday i started to feel very drained and ill. Since then I ve had fevers of 100 and up. My throat, jaw, and neck are so sore i can t eat or drink anything. Along with my entire body being sore. The only thing that helps me is motrin and cough syrup. What do you think i might have?

Hello,

If the fever has lasted for more than 4-5 days, you may have bacterial tonsillitis and in this case, antibiotics may be needed.
Amoxicilline is the preferred medication if you are not allergic to penicillins (or azithromycin if allergic to penicillin). You may go on to use Motrin and the cough syrup that is helping you feel better.
Drinking plenty of fluids and resting as possible is advisable as well.
