Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Chest Pain Post A Double Bypass Surgery?
I have had a double bypass July 21 2016 and I still suffer from intense pains in my chest it is never in one spot and it radiates to my back breathing deep, coughing, sneezing, burping cause a lot of pain docs say I m fine but this pain has been going on since my surgery
Chest pain aggravated by coughing or burping if not from any cardiovascular problems could be related to gastritis or stomach ulcers. This is particularly true if you take blood-thinning drugs which increase chances for stomach hyperacidity problems. If I was your caring doctor apart cardiovascular system I'd check your:
- stomach through upper endoscopy, and abdominal ultrasound
- lungs function through respiratory function test and chest x-ray
- liver/kidney/pancreas function test to rule out respective issues.
For the moment I can only suggest you take Paracetamol for the pain and continue taking meds as prescribed by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
