What Causes Persistent Cuts On The Penis With History Of Herpes?

Hi, i was diagnosed earlier this year with herpes type 1. I had a pretty bad initial outbreak, blisters, pain when urinating, fever, very swollen glands etc. Over the past week i have noticed small cuts on my penis just below the head. I am circumsized and have had these for many years. They normally go away after a couple of days however this time they seem to be taking longer to heal. Is this a reoccourance of herpes? I have also read it could be a fungal infection. Other than the cuts i have no other symptoms.

Hi,

Herpes recurrence will cause blisters rather than cuts. If cuts takes longer than usual to heal, there is chance of secondary bacterial infection. Try applying an antibiotic cream like Mupirocin for 5 days. Also, keep the area clean and dry as far as possible. If no healing by then, kindly get it examined with your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
