What Causes Persistent Dry Cough Along With Excessive Body Odor?
My son will be 24 in 2 months. He has had a persistent, intermittent dry cough for 5 years. It began at the time he enrolled as a college resident. He also has nose bleeds every February and they produce a lot of blood. In addition, he experiences excessive body odor although he showers daily. He belches daily. He urinates every 30 minutes to hour, and needs to do so at very inconvenient times (church services he may leave to visit the facility 3-4 times). He had bloodwork today at a community healthfair. I thought it might be the dust I am sure accumilated in his college dorm room. Now that he is home, it may have improved some but still is present at least some each week. I have tried clariton daily for what could be seasonal allergies but it didn t seem to help. He has tried albuterol and steroids for cough which helped at the time but once stopped the coughing continued. He has tried omeprazole for the bechingbut I am not sure if that helped. Recently his doctor said it might be some form of colitis and prescribed a prescription. He said he thinks it helped but after prescription ran out (2 months) the belching is back. I am not sure if the meds prescribed helped his cough but I think it may have some. Any ideas where we should go from here?

What Causes Persistent Dry Cough Along With Excessive Body Odor?
Hello, Consult a pulmonologist and get evaluated. As the cough is persisting for longer periods, A detailed evaluation is required. Go for sputum culture and chest X-ray. Infective causes like tuberculosis also to be ruled out. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
