What Causes Persistent Dry Wheezy Cough?

Hi,
Hoping someone can help.

I have had a dry non productive wheezy cough for roughly 9 months.
No shortness of breath, I am 19 years old and very fit.

For roughly 5-6 months the cough was annoying but manangable,
Some days would be better than others but from my analysis there seems
No cause for why.

I visited the doctors and was prescribed with hayfever tablets as
I have had very bad hay fever for the past couple of years
But that had no effect.

I then went back and subsequently recieved the blue inhaler
And the brown inhaler they both only ended up making it slightly
Worse (coughing more frequently) .

I got a cold over Christmas which included a chesty cough
Which ofcourse aggravated the situation,
Once the cold cleared up I found my cough was even worse, and I am now coughing (dry) every time I swallow.
That was 3 weeks ago.

I have had a chest x ray and bloody test and all has come back clear, the last time I spoke to my doctor he said e thinks my throat is just aggravated but nothing has cleared it up so now I am waiting to see a specialist but I am struggling to cope.

Over the course of the 9 months I have tried everything from
Honey and lemon to peppermint tea and can say Nothing seems to
Effect it either way!

Sorry for such a long explanation but if anyone could give any help
It would be greatly appreciated!
