What Causes Persistent Headaches After A Head Injury?

Hi, I had a boyfriend for a couple years ago who punched me upside my head often. Once it knocked me straight to the ground in seconds I bounced back up with a huge knot above my left eye on my forhead another time it made me diarrhea on myself and others it didn t do much but make my eye sight blurry and make me slur and forget little things. It s been almost a year since I ve been hit I m the head but now I have headaches on the top back side of my head and the sides kind if above my ears and of course where the knot was that one time. Sometimes I get migraines when I get angry. Could this mean there is some brain injury or has it been to long to be the reason for my headaches?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The way you described your head injury, there is strong possibility that you had brain injury. And this kind of brain injury can lead to chronic headache, migraine, epilepsy etc. So in my opinion, you should definitely consult neurologist and get done clinical examination and MRI of brain. MRI is needed to evaluate if any brain injury is there. If MRI is normal then start treatment for migraine. Take Propranolol and Flunarizine combination. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm. Avoid excessive sun exposure, avoid Fasting and take your meals timely. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
