What Causes Persistent Pain In The Right Thumb, Upper Arm And Left Wrist?

Hi this is Bernice a 75 year old active female - I have suffered with a very painful right thumb for the last four months - it is moderately swollen and always feels hot to the touch - My opinion is RA.... in the last 2weeks the thumb has improved by 80% but now other parts of my body left foot - left wrist- and worst of all my right upper arm on the exterior side just below the shoulder joint (but not in the joint area.) I am taking 1 ibprofren 200 mg no more than 3 times in 24 hours - that pretty much fixes the three joints - but has little effect on this ache/pain in my arm. My life has changed for the worst in the last few weeks and I feel like an OLD LADY... I do hope there is something that can give me back my active life... Hi,

Tricky without being there. This is a few joints with hotness. RA is generally a whole lot of joints and the small ones not the large. Gout is one joint, infection is one joint and generally looks infected. Overall infection like a UTI, or POLYMYALGIA RHEUMATICA can have odd patterns with tiredness being the predominant one in both. Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, an exam with a few tests would show things.
