What Causes Persistent Red Swollen Bumps On The Arm After Mosquito Bite?

3 days ago, I received 2 or 3 mosquito bites close together, on my arm, just above the wrist. Within a couple of hours an area of about 3 x5 started getting red and swolen. I used an ice pack on the area twice before going to bed. Most of the swelling has gone down, but my arm is still red, slightly swolen, itchy and warm. I use neosporine & triamcinolone acetonide cream on the area a few times a day. Should I be concerned? I am a 68 year old female. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to mosquito bites. I suggest using an antihistamine such as Levocetirizine 10 mg daily. I also suggest using Betametasone cream for local application. You should not be concerned, the symptoms will go away gradually.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
